Remembering
Twelve years ago this day my eldest son had a brush with death, but happily escaped from World Trade Center Tower II in time. Almost 3,000 of our fellow Americans weren't as lucky that day.
Remember that day.
Remember the fallen.
Remember our lost innocence.
Remember what religion and religious fanaticism breeds.
I love you, Josh.

PLEASE READ: Love it /hate it feel free to comment on it. Smart phone/ Iphones don't interface well with "blogspot", please..use your computer. Comments containing bad religious poems (they're all bad, trust me), your announcement of your engagement to Jesus (yeah,I've seen 'em), mindless religious babble, your made up version of Christian doctrine, and death threats are going to be laughed at and deleted. Thanks! Hump
Josh is a fine man. (It helps that he has fine parents.)I feel doubly fortunate to have met him, considering that fateful cigarette break twelve years ago.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your family,
Crazydad
Thanks Crazydad.
ReplyDeleteIt saddens me that while many tears are shed, bagpipes played, and (ugh) prayers said in rememberance of the 3000 victioms of the 9/11 attacks, the nearly 4500 soldiers who have since died in Iraq and nearly 2300 (and counting) who have died in Afghanistan fighting GWB's insane and immoral wars have been virtually forgotten. Why don't some 7000 fallen service people deserve at least an equal level of recognition?
ReplyDeletepaul, indeed they do deserve that recognition. Memorial Day, Veterans day are meant to pay tribute to the fallen service men and those who served ... albeit too many never bother to use that time appropriately.
ReplyDeleteThe 911 attack on innocent civilian victims of the worst terrorist attack ever on the US, is burned into the minds of every civilian. It reminds us of our innocents lost, and each of our own vulnerability on a blue sky sun lite day.
