The Pew Research center reports that Evangelicals have come out strong for Donald Trump. Seventy-eight percent would vote for him for president today.  Here's a link to the story and poll data.

I'm unsurprised. Why wouldn't Evangelicals support a man who has been divorced twice; lusts after his own daughter's "figure";  is a fake Christian who misquotes biblical verse, and panders to the religiously stupid; makes fun of the disabled, is an inveterate liar, and has a wife who poses nude?

After all, Christians in general, and Evangelicals in particular are utter hypocrites. Hypocrisy is a veritable sacrament to them. Let them be damned.

It is, to put it mildly, well past bordering on the absurd. Are these people out of their fucking minds? Have they lost the plot? Can they really not see how utterly irrational this whole thing has become?

They are evangelicals. They believe in a sky fairy. They believe anything that agrees with their preconceptions, regardless of the source, while rejecting anything to the contrary. That's why they believe Trump's pandering rhetoric, and ignore the rest.

I'm sory Paul, I don't understand. I am not American. It seems to me that the mentality of the American Christian Sheeple is far more insane than I ever conveived possible for a developed Western Nation.

David,
No body ever went broke betting on the stupidity of the American public. That was said some time ago, and it's still true today.

Yes, America is the most religiously infested country in the Industrialized World. Our motto should be:
"Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, Asylum for the Religiously Afflicted and Patently Stupid."

However we did vote twice to elect a Black man our president. I fully expect reason to prevail...again.

I hope so Bart.

Let's not forget you did also elect George W Bush twice.

If Trump is elected president, Lord help the world be. Hang on there is no lord. We'll be fucked.

After watching the last year, I've come to the obvious answer to why evangelicals overwhelmingly support Trump. They believe he's the anti-christ and will bring on the rapture quicker.
