Mike Huckabee: Another “Good Christian” with Blood on His Hands

Mike Huckabee can kiss his presidential aspirations goodbye. Thank Dog! One less Creationist Supernaturalist God Fearing mental midget to compete for the Presidency.

When Southern Baptist preacher Huckabee was governor and head Creationist of Arkansas he commuted the sentences of 1,033 prisoners… twice as many as did his three predecessors combined! It was no secret that he was prone to reduce sentences of convicted felons who testified to having come to Jesus and seen the error of their criminal ways, thus appealing to Mike’s Christian values. One would be hard pressed to find many Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Wiccans, or atheists who benefited from Mike’s mercy.

Maurice Clemmons, the piece of human flotsam that executed those four police officers in Seattle last week, was a beneficiary of Mike Huckabee’s Christian mercy. He had written a letter to then Governor Huckabee attesting to his Christian beliefs and having turned around his life.

Bam! A felon with a long list of crimes on his record, and with a long sentence still to finish, was released with a stroke of Pastor Mike’s pen. The rest of the story is the sorry history we are reading about today.

Huckabee had also released a convicted rapist of a teen aged girl, who promptly committed murder after his release. It would be safe to assume that of the 1,033 good Christian prisoners whose sentences were commuted by Pastor-Governor Huckabee, some significant number went on to resume their murderous, raping, robbing Christian ways.

But Pastor Huckabee doesn’t want to own any of this. Why would he? It doesn’t speak well of his respect for the criminal justice system, his concern for the well being of his law abiding constituents, his rationality, or his ability to separate his faith from his duties as a public servant. In short, a typical religious fanatic whose lack of judgment, common sense and regard for reality wreaks havoc on society.

We already had eight years of one of those. Been there, done that. We don’t need another. Perhaps Mike can go back to ministering to the flock full time. He can start by telling the families of those police officers how their loved ones are in a better place and it was all God’s will.

Hahahah...classic!!!!

Huckabee was already known as very ignorant and so steeped in his religion that he has little grasp of reality.

This just seals the deal, so now the Republicans have Palin and Romney as their 2012 loss leaders.

Bob,

Palin will never happen. The few remaining GOP bosses who have a semblence of live brain cells left know she appeals only to their least intelligent base and could never change the perception the rest of the country has of her. 60% saying she has no Presidential credibility is impossible to surmount, especially out of public office.

As for Romney, I think he had his shot and blew it badly. He finished too far behind McCain, getting only 17% of the GOP primary delegates to McCain's 66%, and has too much baggage (can you say Mormon), to get another shot IMO.

They are going to have to come up with something that appears to have a brain and isn't pegged as a loser from the start.

Hump,

I certainly agree that either of those two should not be picked, but I HOPE that one of them is picked. That way it will be a landslide loss for them.

The Republican party is becoming more and more a party of exclusion. If they keep going down the nut-bag path they will no longer be a national party, just one for the deep south and fundagelicals.

Oh...absolutely agree!

This walleyed, snaggle-toothed fucktard went on an clemency tangent when he was the governor here. He now wants to blame everyone but himself for what happened in Washington. If he'd left well enough alone, four police officers would still be alive today because the criminal would still be getting three hots and a cot courtesy of the taxpayers of the state of Arkansas. Huckster has never and will never take any shape, form or responsiblity for his own actions. I really wish he'd crawl back into the cave from whence he came, take that mannish wife, his fat children and Sarahcuda with him.

NewEnglandBob said...

But Tracey, would you have a beer with old walleyed, snaggle-toothed fucktard Huckster?

I'm not making fun of you, I love the way you describe him.

Hump,

I would Really Really Really like to see the documentation that Maurice Clemmons claimed to find Jebus when 17 or so. Then I can rub it in the face of the fundies that they'd believe anything as long as it claims that "the power of christ compells you", even human flotsam...

NEB, he's a Baptist. They claim to not partake in the bottled spirits. But if he did, no I would not have a beer with the walleyed, snaggle-toothed fucktard. I'd piss in his beer, but that's about the extent of it.

Fast thumbs, google huckabee clemency record. That ought to be a good place to start. Even still, the fundies will come up with some sort of bullshit excuse as to why it was alright for Huckster to grant clemency and that the murdering scumbag in question wasn't really a christian.

Sure here's an extract:

"Prosecutors have said Huckabee, a Southern Baptist preacher, was more inclined to release or reduce the sentences of prisoners if he had direct contact with them or was lobbied by those close to him. Clemmons' letter perhaps appealed to Huckabee's Christian faith.

In his application for clemency, Clemmons wrote that he prayed Huckabee would show him compassion and said at the time of his crimes he had just moved to Arkansas from Seattle. Clemmons also wrote that he had changed his life since "the angel of death has visited and taken away my dear sweet mother."

At Salon, Joe Conason reports that Huckabee has a pattern of releasing violent criminals after interventions by fellow Baptist preachers or professions of Christian faith by the inmates themselves. Wayne Dumond is one such case; in another instance the public outcry was so strong that Huckabee was forced to reverse his decision."

LOL! Huckabee blew it for sure with this mess....But even back in the 2008 primaries Huckabee had a hard time finding voters...I watched all of the debates for both major parties (even cringed during one when a few Repubs raised their hands for not accepting evolution) and the consensus from most conservative voters after watching the debates was that they wanted a president and not a pastor...which was a direct shot at Huckabee. LOL! You'll notice that McCain...the least conservative of the bunch and the most hated by the far right...won the nom mainly due to moderates...His VP pick of Palin was made to satisfy the evangelicals. I'm still waiting on McCain to apologize for introducing Palin to the world. LOL!

But how stupid does one have to be to release a (now dead)hardcore criminal like Clemmons from prison just because he claimed to have found Jesus or changed his life because of religion?....Jesus and Allah are always being found behind prison walls...It's their hangout...So what???!!! Do the crime, do the time...Why should a hardcore criminal be released early because of his religious views? Found Jesus? Good...now you have the remaining 60 plus years to become best friends with him. Have a nice life.

Dromedary Hump said...

Rachelle,
Nicely put.

Clemmons by the way was sentenced to 108 years!! I think he had like a century still to go before Pastor Mike opted to play God with innocent peoples lives.

Rachelle said...

Unreal!! Huckabee ignored a 108 year prison sentence because some criminal schmoozed him with god talk??!! WOW!! As if judges just hand those steep sentences down randomly. I bet the guy who sold pot to an undercover cop is still serving his time...Too bad he didn't get on the "I found Jesus...now let me outta here" bandwagon while Huckabee was still in office.

Dromedary Hump said...

Afterthought:

I don't think I'm out of line saying that the world would have been better off if Huckabee had been killed by Clemmons instead of those four police officers.

Anyone who thinks i AM out of line can kiss my camel ass.

Yea, and I consulted the great Prophetess Amazon and she did...sorry, I can only keep that up so long. I came across your site because I came across your book, which I ordered.

A very minor correction--the officers killed were Lakewood PD. Lakewood's about 31.5 miles south of Seattle and mainly inhabited by folks from McChord AFB and Ft. Lewis. Something that only matters to those of us who live in WA.

Back to Huckabee--I can see him now, wringing his hands and going with one of a couple possible defenses:
1. Satan deceived him. Uh-huh.
2. He *thought* the murdering bastard was saved, but it turns out he wasn't a TRUE (tm) Christian!
3. God works in mysterious ways.

Thanks for an interesting site. I've worked my way forwards from the beginning. Other than being a Republican (cough! hack!), you seem like an okay guy. If you ever make it out here to beautiful Washington (the real one, not that fake, District upstart), I'll buy you a beer.

Corbie,
Thanks for the good comment, your kind words about my blog, and of course for buying my book. I hope you enjoy it.

Let me just correct one thing you said... I'm NOT a Republican,I'm an Ex-Republican. I came to my senses about three years ago, am now a registered Independent, and voted for Obama.

Glad to have you aboard.

Corbie said...

Alrighty, then! I'll make it two beers! Fortunately, we keep smacking the idea of having to register with a party down. What ever happened to voting for the best person for the job regardless of party affiliation? I'm a Democrat, but I rarely vote straight party-line in any election.

Huckabee--an argument for bringing back public horse-whipping.
